DESCRIPTION:Three Divisions: K-5th\, 6-8th & 9-12th Grades\nWHAT\nAn art competition for Lee County students in kindergarten through 12th grade. \nDr. King faced incredible challenges in his fight for justice\, yet he never gave up. His words remind us that progress comes in many forms—whether you’re flying ahead with confidence\, walking steadily\, or even crawling through challenges\, what matters most is that you don’t stop moving forward. Let this message guide your imagination as you bring your own vision of resilience\, determination\, and hope to life through art. \nWe’re asking students to illustrate what the theme means to them. Illustrations can be completed in paint\, ink\, pencil\, colored pencil\, mixed media\, digital media or crayon on an 8 ½ x 11 and no larger than 11×17 poster/paper (Please do not fold paper) \nWHO\nThis contest is hosted by Bridging the Gap Center for the Arts in partnership with the Dunbar Festival Committee\, Lee County School District\, Alliance for the Arts\, Lee County Public Library and Lee County Black History Society. \nWHY\nTo honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. and to have students reflect on King’s legacy and how it relates to themselves\, their families\, their communities or the world. \nWHEN\nArt entries must be submitted by Friday\, December 19th\, 2025 at 5 pm. \nWHERE\nComplete the entry form and drop off along with your drawing to one of the 4 locations below: \nAlliance for the Arts\, 10091 McGregor Blvd\, Ft.
